This A4 artwork created on vintage book paper is inspired by Daphne du Maurier's visits to the Bronte Parsonage Museum whilst researching her biography on Branwell Bronte. The Brontes were a huge inspiration to her - her first novel The Loving Spirit named after a verse from an Emily Bronte poem, and Jane Eyre inspiring the plot of Rebecca. In her book 'Vanishing Cornwall' she writes about the Cornish heritage of the Brontes through their Penzance mother and aunt who brought them up in the Parsonage. Please do visit the @daphnedumaurierofficial website which has a wonderful feature by Ann Wilmore about the connections mentioned briefly here, as well as discussing a postcard Daphne sent from Haworth in which she speaks of the happy atmosphere she senses at the Brontes home. Whenever I have visited the Parsonage I have also felt that happiness too 🌟🙏🌟

Mixed media - linoprint and monotype printmaking process combined with inks and penwork.
